Walking Holidays, Exmoor, DevonWalking and Hiking in the Exmoor Countryside
Exmoor National Park offers a variety of walks for hikers of all ages and experience, from short strolls to longer hikes across the moors to the coast. The owners of Barleycorn House Bed and Breakfast are avid walkers and can provide advice on some of the best walks in the Exmoor area, lend walking guides or of course, you can enjoy exploring the moors and countryside yourself. Local walks include Exmoor, Wimbleball Lake, beside the River Exe at Dulverton, Haddon Hill, Tarr Steps and the Grand Union Canal tow path near Tiverton. The owners of Barleycorn House are dog lovers, so dogs are welcome. There is a ground-floor bedroom with walk-in shower so guests who do not want to climb stairs or are not so mobile will find the facilities accessible. Families are welcome too: the property features a family suite with a double bed and a connecting room with two single beds, as well as an en-suite shower and bath facilities. There is also a guest dining room & lounge with a TV, DVD player and stereo. The garden has a patio area where guests are welcome to sit. Barelycorn House is a family-run bed and breakfast located in Shillingford. The B&B is rated 4 stars by the tourist board, and an Exmoor Tourist Association member.
Shillingford is in the beautiful Exe Valley, just to the south of Exmoor and the north coast of Devon and Somerset. The area is ideal for outdoor activities including walking, horse riding and angling, as well as visiting the picturesque villages and towns in the surrounding countryside. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome. |
